About This
- SURFACES & WARNINGS: This 3M double sided tape (model 5925) is a high-strength foam tape – 0.025 in / 0.6 mm thick black acrylic foam tape with PE liner. It bonds to aluminum, steel, glass, marble, tile, powder-coated paints, composites, plastics, and hardwoods. Its viscoelastic adhesive works on both high and low surface energy materials. Not recommended for heavily textured surfaces or painted drywall – removal may lift paint.
- STRENGTH & USES: This double sided foam tape delivers 20 lb/in peel adhesion and 90 lb/in² dynamic shear strength on stainless steel. Ideal for: RV solar panels, car spoilers, automotive trim, registration plates, nameplates, LED strips, signage, power strips, mailboxes, mirrors, frames, and home/automotive decorations. Replaces screws, rivets, and welding.
- NO HOLES, NO MESS: This thin double sided tape provides virtually invisible fastening – also works as automotive double sided tape for trims and emblems. Keeps surfaces smooth and aesthetically pleasing. Eliminate drilling, grinding, refinishing, screwing, and welding – no unsightly bumps or holes. Allows use of thinner, lighter materials while maintaining a clean, seamless look.
- CURE TIME: This 3M foam double sided tape bonds on contact for instant handling with no drying time. At room temperature, it reaches 50% of ultimate strength after 20 minutes, 90% after 24 hours, and 100% after 72 hours – avoid heavy loads before full cure. This 3m double sided tape also creates a permanent seal against water, moisture, and air.
- USER GUIDELINES: For double sided automotive tape performance, clean the surface with a 50:50 mix of isopropyl alcohol and water, then apply tape when the temperature is between 70°F–100°F (21°C–38°C) – avoid below 50°F (10°C). Press firmly or use a J-roller at ≥15 psi (100 kPa). If the liner is hard to peel, cut a corner with a knife first.
